Need To Mount Your Nozzle In Silicone? Here's How. Many times, when doing an install, customers are unable to mount their water methanol injection nozzles in metal piping. Leaving them to install the nozzle in a rubber silicone hose. When mounting your water methanol injection nozzle into a rubber silicone hose. Here's an simple, effective and free way to do it. Follow along as we show you how to and how not to mount your nozzles in silicone hose.
Parts Needed:
- One AIS nozzle
- One AIS nozzle holder
- Two .040" thick stainless steel washers
Shown below is everything needed to complete the installation. All parts shown above come standard with each water injection kit from AIS. Just another reason to buy from AIS and how we save our customers money. No need to purchase expensive and ineffective nozzle adapters sold by competitors that can actually shroud and prevent the nozzle from spraying properly.
Shown in the image below is a demonstration of how the stainless steel washes can be used to secure and seal the nozzle in the rubber silicone. Creating an air tight seal.
Shown in the image below is an outside view of how the nozzle looks when mounted in the silicone rubber hose using the two stainless steel washes provided.
Shown in the next image below is an inside view of how the water injection nozzle looks when mounted using the two stainless steel washer.
Shown below is a competitors silicone nozzle adapter which retails for $20.00. There are to big inherit problems with this adapter fitting.
- The adapter actually shrouds the nozzle and prevents it from spraying properly and atomizing the fluid. Being that the nozzle is screwed in from the outside. The nozzle is not long enough to extend far enough inside the nozzle adapter to allow it to spray properly. These nozzles were designed to be mounted into thin wall tubing. Not an adapter that is nearly 1' thick. Had this company done its testing they would have discovered this.
- The nozzle adapter is actually engineered backwards. The manufacture of this silicone nozzle adapter engineered this adapter with the retaining screw to be secured on the inside of the hose. The proper way is to have the securing nut on the outside. Then with the nozzle screwed in from the outside. It prevents the securing nut from loosening and backing off. With the way its engineered now this is a disaster waiting to happen. No reputable engine builder would ever use such a design as it is clearly engineered backwards.

Shown below is an image showing the nozzle before it is screwed in to the adapter fitting. As you can see from this view the nozzle is not going to extend very far into the adapter fitting. Furthermore, the tip of the nozzle is recessed inside the actual nozzle tip. See our water injection nozzle category for an image of the nozzle tip. Lastly, shown below is an image of the competitors water injection nozzle silicone adapter. Giving you another perspective on the thickness of the adapter and showing you how the securing nut screws on from the inside with nothing preventing it from potentially vibrating loose and passing through the engine.
